This last fall, 3,300 high school seniors world-wide competed for the 470 slots in the new Freshman Class. Of these new Freshman, 86% ranked in the top fifth of their high school class, 20% ranked in the top three positions of their high school class, 282 were members of honor societies, and the average SAT scores were 620 critical reading and 680 math. At the other end of the pipeline, on-campus job interviews for Rose-Hulman seniors start September 15, and a career fair is scheduled for seniors on October 18. 160 companies have already signed up for it. The average starting salary for a Rose-Hulman graduate last year was $54,100, with Microsoft on the high end with a starting salary as high as $75,000 plus perks. | Visit by Dr. Cary Laxer of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Dr. Cary Laxer, Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering (CSSE) at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, was hosted at a luncheon at the Indian Head restaurant on Tuesday, October 3. Dr. Laxer discussed many topics of interest to the group, including how to prepare our students to improve their chances for admission to Rose-Hulman, venture capital funding opportunities through Rose-Hulman Ventures, collaborations and grant-funding opportunities between Rose-Hulman and various Indiana-based philanthropic organizations (particularly the Eli Lilly Foundation), and activities and events at Rose-Hulman as well as ways to partner with Rose-Hulman. |
 | Microsoft In-Person Events on August 22, 2006 Microsoft and several partners sponsored 4 free educational in-person events at the Regal Cinemas 17 in Carmel, IN. They were each about four hours long: - Connections - an introduction to the new Windows Vista, Office 2007, and other software coming out in the next six months
- TS2 - technical/sales seminar for partners
- Technet - seminar on how to maintain and run Windows Vista, Exchange, and other software from Microsoft; for IT Staff
- Microsoft Developer's Network - seminar on how to develop software using Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 and the .NET Framework 2.0; for software developers

Glen Meyers won a copy of Microsoft OneNote during the event. | Vista and Office 2007 Launch Event Indianapolis Convention Center January 2007 Glen Meyers of the First Christian Church, Jon McDougal of the Fellowship Baptist Church, and Richard Conn, Space Day in Pulaski County Lead, attended this event, receiving three free copies of Office 2007 Professional (MSRP $500 per copy). This software was donated to the churches (2 to First Christian, 1 to Fellowship Baptist).
